Home News Current projects for 2014

It's early in 2014 and I'm currently working on several composition projects as follows:

Pool of Blood - an opera, with libretto by Nia Williams - we are currently working on Scene 4, and I've targeted the end of the summer to complete the whole work

Symphony of Dances (planned for performance in July 2015) - this will be my largest orchestral work yet

Duet for Clarinet and Violin in three movements - inspired by four young musicians, two of whom have already performed one movement

Basset horn Trio - a new work in the spirit of Mozart's Divertimenti, written especially for classical period instruments

Sonata for Flute and Piano for a former student of mine

Duet for Clarinet and Viola, for Lucy Downer and Nichola Blakey

In addition to all of the above, in October I will be putting on a concert in my home town of Brackley, on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Trust, which celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year. It promises to be a big event locally, with music by Bartok and Calandrelli as well as some of my own works, and those of my good friend Chloe Knibbs, all performed by friends and local musicians (including me!) supported by the Cherwell Orchestra. I have quite a bit of arranging to do for this concert so I will be slaving over a hot computer for most of the year!
